The benefit of the Funnel Taper design is the control. Unlike traditional approach, it re-distributes mass to the back of a fly line. Due to the mass, angler is easier to cast into d-loop and loads rod noticeable deeper. The funnel dramatically drops the mass that allows the rod recovers faster and cast the lighter front taper into much higher line speed shooting. The high line speed shooting through air compresses the forward loop into a tight-arrow shape. The tighter loop with high line speed can cut through air better and go for distance and turn over fly. Turn over the fly and able to reach the fish wins half of battle.
